What Kind of Braces are Right for Me?

There are many different types of braces available today, and it can be tough to decide which kind is right for you or a child. Do you want traditional metal braces or clear aligners? What are the pros and cons of each?

In our latest blog, we dive deep to help you understand what could be the best option for you.

Traditional Metal Braces

Traditional metal braces are the most common type of braces. They are made of metal brackets that are bonded to your teeth and connected with wires. Metal braces are very strong and can be used to correct even the most severe cases of misaligned teeth.

One of the biggest advantages of traditional metal braces is that they’re proven to be effective and reliable at straightening teeth. Because they’re attached to the teeth, they’ll work around the clock to straighten your smile-even while you sleep.

Metal braces are also extremely durable, meaning they likely won’t break or crack during your treatment.

If you choose metal braces, you’ll likely need to visit our practice once every few weeks to have your wires changed and tightened so that your smile shifts beautifully.

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are made of clear, plastic trays that fit snugly over your teeth. They are virtually invisible when you wear them, so they are a great option if you are looking for a more discreet way to straighten your teeth.

Another advantage of clear aligners is that they are removable, so you can take them out to eat and brush your teeth. This makes them easier to keep clean than traditional braces.

However, clear aligners aren’t always ideal in cases of severely misaligned teeth.
